Program Assistant for the Center for the Study of Democracy (contingent, 11-months)
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the 11- month contingent position of Program Assistant for the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD). The Program Assistant is primarily responsible for event coordination and office management of the Center. The Program Assistant will plan, schedule, and manage approximately 30 events throughout the school year and will manage day-to-day office responsibility for the Director of the Center. This position works closely with the offices of Events and Conferences, Publications and Media Relations, and Advancement. This is a part-time, 11-month contingent position that may include limited benefits.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least one-year experience working in Events Management or Event Coordination or comparable professional experience. Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to work with others. Must have strong office management skills and be detail oriented. Strong writing and editing skills preferred. Familiarity with content development and management of various social media platforms strongly preferred. Knowledge in Microsoft Office and Google Suite are required and experience in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. Ability to set-up for events and lift approximately 25 pounds. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to work some early evening hours several times per month is required during the academic year. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
