Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) supports the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Planning in managing college-wide efforts to monitor institutional effectiveness, including the assessment of student learning, analysis of student outcomes, administrative assessment, and survey administration, analysis, and dissemination. The Associate Director of IE will work with the Associate Director of Institutional Research to assist in the collection and analysis of student and employee data to support internal decision-making and comply with requests from external agencies. The incumbent will work collaboratively with faculty in all academic departments to support the assessment of student learning outcomes and supporting faculty in the application of assessment results to improve teaching and curriculum. The incumbent will also work with staff in all divisions and units on campus to oversee and coordinate the preparation and implementation of an annual cycle of administrative assessment, including the application of results to improve operational effectiveness. The Associate Director of IE will coordinate the design, administration, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of multiple internal and external surveys of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
Qualifications: Master’s degree required, preferably in a quantitatively-oriented field such as Social Science, Educational Research or Planning, Higher Education Administration, Statistics, or Mathematics. Three years of experience in one or more areas of higher education to include institutional research, institutional effectiveness, data analysis, research methods, and/or strategic planning, preferably in a liberal arts setting. Experience with academic and/or administrative assessment is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience and competency utilizing data management systems, including spreadsheets, statistical and database applications, data visualization tools, and business intelligence/reporting tools (e.g., Cognos/Impromptu, Excel, Tableau, Power BI). Excellent critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; an exemplary attention to detail; and effective and collaborative leadership skills. Previous management experience desirable. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
