Assistant Director of Events and Conferences
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Assistant Director of Events and Conferences. The Assistant Director assists in the logistical planning and execution of summer conferences, year-round events, programs, receptions and facility rentals. The Assistant Director works to ensure an excellent customer experience--both internally and externally--that exemplifies the College's brand. The incumbent helps coordinate and execute event details that meet the clients' expectations and budgets in a timely and accurate manner. The incumbent also assists in contract management and ensuring on-site details from registration to breakdowns are executed. The Assistant Director works directly with the Executive Director and the Director of Events and Conferences.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum of two years of event management or event planning experience. They must have the ability to effectively manage database and management software, including the ability to train others. The incumbent requires excellent workflow management, customer service skills and problem-solving skills. Some evening and weekend work are required, as is the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Valid driver's license required. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
