Caps & Gowns

All students, regardless of their major, wear the same graduation regalia (cap, gown, hood, and black tassel). The cost for the complete outfit is $49.95 and you can also order components of the outfit (e.g. hood only). We also carry souvenir tassels and keyrings.

If you need your regalia shipped to your home address, please place your order at https://smcm.shopoakhalli.com/. If you are picking up your regalia at the Campus Store, please place your order at https://www.smcmbooks.com.

Diploma Frames

The size of diplomas was recently changed from 8 ½” x 11” to 11” x 14” and new diploma frames have been ordered to fit the new diplomas. We expect these new frames to be delivered by late April for purchasing either on-line or in-store.

Lavender Graduation is a special ceremony that honors the achievements of graduating gender, sexual minority students and distinguished allies. Our goal is to provide a venue to demonstrate the success of our community members in a personal, entertaining, and celebratory way.

Our 9th annual Lavender Graduation will be taking place virtually on April 23 beginning at 3 p.m.

Student Loans

Upon graduating and prior to beginning repayment, you are required to complete exit counseling if you have received any Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford or Graduate PLUS loan through the Direct Loan (DL) program. Exit counseling will provide information about borrow rights, responsibilities regarding loan repayment and review the TEACH Grant service requirements.

National Student Loan Data System

To determine how much you have received in federal loans and/or TEACH Grants, you should consult the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Complete your exit counseling requirements online by following the steps provided below:
  • Go to https://studentaid.gov/ and sign in with your FSA ID
  • Go to Manage Loans
  • Click on Complete Exit Counseling and follow the prompts to complete the exit counseling process which covers all DL borrowers
You do not need to notify the Office of Student Financial Assistance upon completion of your exit counseling requirement. However, you are welcome to contact us with any follow-up questions.
