Business Office / For Students & Parents / One Card & Banking

One Card & Banking

The One-Card (ID card) is the official campus ID card for students. Students use their One-Card for meal plans, building access, and their debit account. Debit accounts can be used for purchasing items at the Campus Bookstore, The Daily Grind, the Upper Deck (The Grille), the Great Room, most campus vending machines, copiers, laundry facilities, and limited off-campus establishments. Students now have 24-hour access to their One-Card account.

Parents

Deposits to the One-Card Debit Account can be made:

  • Add funds to my OneCard instructions from IT
  • At the cashier’s window located in the Business Office (first floor, Glendening Hall, (M-F, 9 am – 4 pm)
  • At the Cash-to-Card terminal located next to the Campus Bookstore
  • By mailing a check to the Business Office –
    Attn: Cashier. Include student’s name and ID # on check

Students

Deposits to the One-Card Debit Account can be made:

  • By mailing/bringing a check to the Business Office –
    Attn: Cashier. Include your name and ID # on check

Transfers from Student Account to One-Card Debit Account can be made in the SMCM Portal:

  1. Log in to your SMCM Portal account
  2. Click “My Student Account”
  3. Select “One Card Transfer”

Policies

Students may transfer credit balances due to overpayment or pending financial aid to their One-Card debit account.

Note: One-Card debit funds are transferred back to the student account only when a student graduates, withdraws, or takes a leave of absence.

Students are not permitted to let others use their One-Card for any purpose. Violation of this policy will result in a $40 fine being assessed to the student’s account.

Students should immediately deactivate a lost or stolen card by following these steps.

Campus ATMs

ATM machines are now located at the entrance of the library and Lewis Quad. They have access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ATM machine will allow you to withdraw cash, make account transfers and check account balances.

BB&T is a member of the regional and national networks Star, Cirrus, Visa, Plus, MasterCard, and Mac. If you have an account with BB&T, you can use the ATM without a fee. If you bank with another institution and have a card with any of these network names on it, you may use the ATM, however, you will be charged a convenience fee per transaction. In addition, your bank may also charge you a transaction fee. If you have a question about the use of the ATM, you may call BB&T at 1-800-226-5228.

Students may also cash checks at the campus store located in the Campus Center as follows:

$2 fee per check
If funds allow, payroll checks and third-party checks payable to students will be cashed free of charge.
