The career center also does a Job Shadow program that can help you decide what you want to do as a career. They have many opportunities over winter break and spring break, some students have gotten job offers from these visits. It is also a wonderful chance to network and to see if it is something you are truly interested in!
Remember that volunteer opportunities are great resume builders and wonderful experiences to help you better understand what you are driven to do.
There are also some great local and national organizations that you should also consider.

- There are many opportunities to get involved either as a student or a recent graduate, they call this the Pathways Program (Also check out their Facebook for updates)

- The National Science Foundation (NSF) has Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU Sites)
- This program is a national program that allows students to get research experience all around the country and some experiences will take you out of the country as well. Check out their database for Earth Science REU Sites!
- There are others that have not been included in the database, many faculty members get updates from sites and may be able to help you in your search for a job or internship.
- The Chesapeake Conservation Corps is also a great option for anyone ages 18-25. Their mission is to get young adults involved in green careers.
- Check out their application requirements! This is a stipend year-long position.
- The Department of Natural Resources also has a program called Maryland Conservation Corps
- The National Aquarium in Baltimore also has great opportunities for careers, internships, and volunteer positions.
- The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has many government jobs that are worth taking a look at!
- The EPA also runs the Chesapeake Bay Program who deals specifically in the Chesapeake Bay watershed working towards a healthier Bay.
