How long have you been at SMCM?
I have been employed at St. Mary’s for 5 years.
What path led you to St. Mary’s?
I was in the grocery business for 35 years and then managed a Peebles Department Store for 1 year and then I was fortunate to be hired at the campus store.
What do you do by day?
I oversee all the stocking and ordering, handle customer related issues, process daily receipts, and supervise a number of student workers.
What do you do with your evenings/weekends?
During the evenings I enjoy the outdoors until dark; this includes landscaping, gardening, caring for the shoreline on my waterfront property, and maintaining rental properties. Also, I train dogs to jump in the water in the sport of Dock Jumping. Dock Jumping is a nationwide, televised, fast-growing dog sport that exists in every state and in 5 countries. We have competed against anywhere from 150 dogs up to 350 dogs in events with the number of spectators ranging from 500 to 5,000. My 3.5 year-old black Labrador retriever, Ripkin, is ranked 47 out 50,000 registered Dock Dogs [of various breeds and age/weight classes] in the entire country.
