All Psychology majors who are in the UG16 catalog or beyond will graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Requirements are actually the same as they were when we offered a Bachelor of Arts but having a Bachelor of Science should allow our graduates to have more access to some jobs that specifically require a Bachelor of Science. The change was made mostly to combat automated resume screening systems that would filter out some of our great alums if they only had a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Students in a catalog year prior to UG16 will still earn a Bachelor of Arts. If they wish to move to UG16 to get the Bachelor of Science instead, they will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org and request to be placed in the UG16 catalog (please include name, ID#, and major). Again, changing catalog years should not affect any current major’s progress towards psychology degree requirements as the current requirements have been in place since UG13, but it may affect requirements for other majors or minors.
