Introductory Physics Laboratory
The introductory physics laboratory is a learning space for students beginning their course of study in physics.
Advanced Physics Laboratory
The Advanced Physics Laboratory is an instructional space containing optical tables, computers, and a variety of equipment. Experiments performed here include measuring the speed of light, interferometry, imaging, electronics, measuring the lifetime of cosmic ray muons, measuring the gravitational constant, measuring electron charge, and others.
The machine shop contains a milling machine, a lathe, drill presses, a band saw, and many other tools for equipment fabrication.
The electronics shops contains soldering stations, test and measurement equipment, and stock of electronics components for research and instructional purposes.
Atomic Trapping Laboratory
The Atomic Physics Laboratory houses the research activities of Prof. Grossman and his students, along with some instructional experiments. This spaces contains two optical tables, an ultrahigh-vacuum chamber for laser cooling and trapping of atoms, several diode lasers (near-IR and visible), a low-noise/high-sensitivity/high-resolution CCD camera, several single-photon-counting modules, optical/electro-optical/acousto-optical components, and data acquisition equipment.
Light Scattering and Atom Trapping Laboratory
The Light Scattering and Atom Trapping Laboratory houses the research activities of Prof. Adler and his students, along with some instructional experiments. This spaces contains two optical tables, an ultrahigh-vacuum chambers for laser cooling & trapping of atoms, NIR diode lasers and HeNe lasers, optical/electro-optical/acousto-optical components, and data acquisition equipment.
Ultrasound & Medical Imaging Laboratory
The Ultrasound & Medical Imaging Laboratory houses the research activities of Prof. Milne and her students. It contains an ultrasound tank and equipment for data acquisition and analysis.
