St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Professor of Music David Froom’s newest work, “Ribbons,” was commissioned by the National Flute Association and performed by six competition finalists at its annual convention in Minneapolis in August. Following the competition performances, flutist Jonathan Keebler, University of Illinois School of Music, performed the official premiere. This capped a busy season in which Froom’s music was performed in Salt Lake City, Boston (New England Conservatory Chamber Orchestra), Washington D.C. (Smithsonian), Maryland (College Park), Virginia (International Saxophone Symposium), and Québec (Orford Festival).
