Geoffrey Bowers, assistant professor of chemistry, was recently approved instrument time to conduct research in the coming summer with the possibility of continuing for a second summer at the William R. Wiley Environmental and Molecular Sciences Laboratory at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The approval was obtained via a grant proposal.
The approved instrument time has a cash equivalent of roughly $43,000 and will allow Bowers and potentially St. Mary’s College undergraduate researchers to continue their study of shale gas/tight gas along with carbon dioxide capture and utilization using instruments unavailable anywhere else in the world.
