New Assistant Vice President of Planning and Facilities Brings Expertise from All Areas of Facilities Management.

March 15, 2017

Annette Angueira

St. Mary’s College of Maryland appointed Annette “Annie” Angueira to the position of assistant vice president of planning and facilities. She began her role in December and reports to Charles “Chip” Jackson, vice president for business and finance.

Angueira oversees planning, construction, maintenance and operations for all the College’s facilities.

She received a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering at the University of Florida, and has more than 20 years of experience in planning and facilities, working in construction and as an engineer, project manager and designer.

Having experience in each of those fields allows her to help bridge the gap between those who design and construct a building and those who operate and maintain it.

“You can’t just build a pretty building. You’ve got to build a pretty building that works and works efficiently,” she said.

“Annie brings to the College expertise in all facets of facilities management with solid experience within higher education,” Jackson said. “She has quickly gotten up to speed on the many projects and operations facing the College as we work to provide the necessary support to our faculty, students and staff.”

Angueira comes to St. Mary’s College from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, where she served as associate vice president of facilities.

Angueira said she enjoys working within a college community. “I like the personal day-to-day interactions you get at a college that you wouldn’t get in another field,” she said. “What you do is making a positive impact on students, whether directly or indirectly.”

St. Mary’s College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Approximately 1,800 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary’s River in Southern Maryland.
