(St. Mary’s City, MD) July 1, 2016 – St. Mary’s College of Maryland chemistry undergraduates presented their research at the American Chemical Society’s 252nd National Meeting and Expo in Philadelphia, PA, August 21-25, 2016. Nicolette Coluzzi presented her research entitled “Multiple uses of analytical chemistry for art and archeological research.” Leah Dignan presented her research entitled “Electron-rich asymmetric viologens via reductive eliminations of diaryl-l3-iodanes.” Kaitlyn Thompson presented her research entitled “Sulfate-reducing bacteria produce high levels of chromophoric dissolved organic matter.”
Accompanying the students were, faculty mentors Professor Randy Larsen, Professor Andy Koch, and Assistant Professor Geoff Bowers, who also presented at the conference. St. Mary’s College Chemistry Alumnus Dr. Tom Montgomery also attended.
