Friday June 24th, students, educators, and community members gathered together in Glendening Annex to witness the final presentations of nine students in EDUC 206: Education in America, a summer course conducted by Lesile Moore, director of student teaching, and Stephen Warner. Each student presented on important issues affecting American education, as well as solutions to their chosen problems. Each presentation was followed by a short Q&A session. Topics ranged from the effect of language barriers between Latino parents and educators (Raquel Martinez ’17), to dress code discriminations (Alyssa Leventer ‘19).
When asked why the presentations were an important experience for the community, Raquel Martinez ’17 said it is: “important for people to be aware.” She hopes the presentations will: “make an impact in schools.”
