Joe Lucchesi, associate professor of art history at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and coordinator of the college’s Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, was consulting curator of “The Art of Romaine Brooks,” an exhibition that opened June 17 at the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum. The exhibition runs through October 2 and includes several of Brooks’ drawings and paintings that have not been seen for decades.
While at the exhibition on June 23, Lucchesi happened upon his advisee, Sami Wright ’18. Wright is a double major in art history and history and is a Smithsonian intern this summer at the National Museum of American History.
