This past weekend, over 1,125 alumni were welcomed back to campus for Alumni Weekend, traveling as far as Kuwait, Bermuda, 28 U.S. states, and the District of Columbia; and ranging in classes from 1955 to 2016. They arrived to campus as early as Thursday, June 9 and were offered a variety of on-campus housing. The weekend was highlighted by consistently sunny weather in the mid-70s to low-90s and the signature Alumni Weekend event, the Waterfront Crab Feast and Barbecue. Additional activities included a sunset party and live music on the waterfront, meals in the Great Room, academic department open houses, a meeting of the Alumni Council, a conversation with President Jordan, and student-led campus tours featuring a walk-through of the new Anne Arundel Hall.
Held annually each second weekend in June, Alumni Weekend is the largest alumni celebration of the year. Every summer, alumni return to their home on the river to reunite with old friends, learn about new College developments, and rediscover the beauty of the St. Mary’s campus. Though all alumni and their families are welcome to attend, those celebrating an anniversary year are especially encouraged to return to celebrate their milestone.
