St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the state’s public honors college, today announced a new strategic plan to guide the institution in its planning, activities, and initiatives over the next three years. The strategic plan, titled “A Time for Rebirth,” was approved by the College’s Board of Trustees during its quarterly meeting on May 13, 2016.
Discussing the new three-year strategic plan, St. Mary’s College President Tuajuanda C. Jordan said, “The plan is designed to establish the institution as the college of choice for the intellectually ambitious, inclusive of students—but also faculty and staff. President Jordan outlined five breakthrough goals that focus on a more diverse student body as well as faculty and staff population; innovation in the curriculum; competitive advantage for students in a global market; and enhanced enterprise systems and infrastructure.
A cross-functional Strategic Planning Steering Committee, comprised of representatives from the College’s faculty, staff, and student body, guided the creation of the plan. President Jordan described the process as “intense but incredibly collaborative.” “We have tried throughout the process to have all members of our community involved,” she said.
The strategic plan will be implemented starting in the fall of 2016 through 2019. The final plan is the College’s first new strategic plan since 2010.
