The Board of Directors of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay has elected Robert W. Paul, professor biology, as board chairman at its Oct. 30, 2015, meeting held in Shepherdstown, WVA. Paul 
will serve as chairman-elect for 2015-16, then assume a three-year term as chairman beginning in the fall of 2016. Having served on the Board since 2011, he is currently on the Executive Committee and chairman of the Program Committee.
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is a non-profit organization with home offices in Annapolis and regional offices in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. It is restoring and promoting the conservation of the Chesapeake Bay through programs that span all six Chesapeake Bay states and Washington, D.C. With a broad mission, the Alliance brings together individuals, organizations, businesses and governments finding collaborative solutions, building strong commitments to stewardship, and delivering innovative, broadly-supported programs that benefit the land, waters, and residents of the Chesapeake Bay.
When asked to comment on being elected Chair, Paul replied, “I strong value the excellent work of the Alliance, and I am looking forward this leadership position. I also believe strongly in the Alliance’s motto- ‘Together we can get the job done”. It’s true.”
Paul is an aquatic ecologist whose research interests focus on the linkage between water quality and land use, environmental protection, and oyster reef restoration. He is also on the Board of the St. Mary’s River Watershed Association, and is past vice-president of that group.
