Sarah Jarrin ‘15 and Bradley Roberts ‘15 were recently awarded an undergraduate research grant from the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society for the neuroscience research they are conducting for their joint St. Mary’s project. Their research is a collaborative work with Brain N. Mathur (Ph.D.) at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine and Aileen M. Bailey (Ph.D.) from the St. Mary’s College Psychology Department. Their paper, “In Vivo Optogenetic Disinhibition of the Indirect Output Pathway of the Dorsolateral Striatum in a Hemi-Parkinsonian Mouse Model” hopes to aid future developments of Parkinson’s disease therapeutics.
