Associate Professor of History Garrey Dennie has been invited to deliver the keynote address at the “Madiba’s Gifts: Nelson’s Mandela’s Life and Legacies – A Tribute” celebration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on April 4. The event is being sponsored by the university’s W. E. B. DuBois Department of Afro-American Studies, as well as the Office of the Chancellor with the support of the Five College African Studies Council. Dennie’s talk, “Mandela’s Words: Mightier than the Sword,” will analyze Mandela’s speeches and reflect on his own experience as one of Mandela’s speechwriters.
