Resident students wishing to be released from the housing contract for the spring 2014 semester must submit the Housing Contract Release Request Form (new this year, available HERE) to Joanne Goldwater as noted below. Please read this information very carefully.
- Students who are GRADUATING at mid-year: You will be released without any financial penalties. Please submit your written release request by MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1.
- Students who are participating in STUDY ABROAD/NSE/DISTANT INTERNSHIPS: You will be released without any financial penalties. Please submit your written release request by MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1. Also, please remember to get your Study Abroad/NSE check-off form submitted by the due date designated by the Office of International Education.
- Students taking a LEAVE OF ABSENCE: You must submit your written release request by MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 to be released from the contract with no financial penalties. Written release requests submitted between November 2 – December 1 will result in a fee of 10% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. Release requests submitted between December 2 and January 20, 2014 will result in a fee of 20% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. You must also complete an exit interview and a Leave of Absence Request form available from the Office of Academic Services (GL 230).
- Students who are TRANSFERRING, WITHDRAWING, DROPPING to PART-TIME, getting MARRIED, or HAVING A BABY: You must submit your written release request by MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 to be released from the contract with no financial penalties. Written release requests submitted between November 2 – December 1 will result in a fee of 10% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. Release requests submitted between December 2 and January 20, 2014 will result in a fee of 20% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. If you are leaving the college, please complete a Withdrawal form available from the Office of Academic Services and an exit interview (GL 230).
- Students who wish to COMMUTE: Your release is NOT automatic. In your written release request, you must indicate the reason and provide a detailed justification for your request. Each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by a committee of staff, students, and faculty. Students will be released only for verifiable, extenuating circumstances. Written release requests that are submitted by MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 that are approved will not have any financial penalties assessed. Written release requests submitted between November 2 – December 1 that are approved will result in a fee of 10% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. Release requests submitted between December 2 and January 20, 2014 that are approved will result in a fee of 20% of the semester cost for housing being assessed to your account. Residents are strongly urged to refrain from signing any off-campus leases until and unless written approval is received from me.
