On Thursday, Feb.7, at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Bruce Riedel, senior fellow for the Brookings Institution’s Saban Center for Middle East Policy, will review the history of American diplomacy in South Asia. Riedel will discuss the crises that have flared in recent years and the prospects of future crisis. The event, presented by the Center for Study of Democracy at St. Mary’s College and The Patuxent Partnership, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Hall. It is free and open to the public.
Riedel retired in 2006 after 30-years of service at the Central Intelligence Agency. He also served as council for four United States presidents. Riedel’s new book, “Avoiding Armageddon: America, India, and Pakistan to the Brink and Back,” recently published on Jan. 21, 2013.
