(St. Mary’s City, MD) February 29, 2012—A public forum will be held with the candidates for the St. Mary’s Board of Education – Cathy Allen, Marilyn Crosby, Jim Davis, David Kelsey, Trisha Post, and James Tomasic – on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Leonardtown High School Auditorium. A question and answer session is part of the public forum. This free event is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Democracy at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) of St. Mary’s County.
For ten years the Center for the Study of Democracy has been committed to promoting education and discussion on both policy and political issues of interest to St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the wider Maryland community. The Center regularly hosts political discussions with government officials and political candidates, public political debates, as well as conferences and forums on important policy issues.
The NAACP of St. Mary’s County is also actively involved in community outreach. Its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
