The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Jazz Band and Combo present an annual salute to the Golden Era of the Big Band on Friday, February 24 at 8:00 p.m. in Montgomery Hall Room 25. The concert, titled “Thank You, Uncle Ted” will feature the music of the great Duke Ellington. The concert will also feature the vocal skills of Camilla Rangel with the big band and Leah Klump with the combo.
Don Stapleson directs the Jazz Combo and Jazz Band at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he also teaches saxophone. Stapleson is an accomplished saxophonist and flutist who plays in two musical groups of his own. He has played in National Theater and Folger Theater performances and has also lent his talents to musical scores for television.
Because seating is limited for this free event, early arrival is recommended.
