is the constitution a live document, changing with the times? To recognize Constitution Day, Garrett Epps, professor of law at the University of Baltimore School of Law will talk about “We the People: What Does the Constitution Really Say?” at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Glendening Annex at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
“The constitution can be read as law and as poetry, and both approaches provide enlightenment,” said Epps. Epps will be signing his book, “Democracy Reborn: The Fourteenth Amendment and the Fight for Equal Rights in Post-Civil War America,” after the event. The lecture is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Political Science Department.
