Every year, 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high schools in the United States without legal status. A film, “Papers: Stories of Undocumented Youth,” examines how our immigration policy severely limits the possibilities for these young men and women and will be shown at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Cole Cinema of the Campus Center as part of the Human Rights Film Series by the Center for the Study of Democracy at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. For more information on the film, visit http://www.papersthemovie.com/about_papers/index.html
There are approximately 2 million undocumented children who were born outside the U.S. and raised in this country. They were educated in American schools; hold American values; know only the U.S. as home; and, upon high school graduation, find the door to future employment shut. Graham Street Productions produced this film in association with El Grupo Juvenil (the “Papers” Youth Crew).
