Trans at St. Mary’s

Trans is an umbrella term to refer to individuals who transgress or transition gender norms instituted by society.

We use the term trans to be as inclusive as possible.

Our Purpose:

To supply information about the Trans community
To offer support and resources for individuals who are transitioning
To highlight policies of the school and larger community that may affect trans students in both positive and negative ways

Housing

We offer residence halls, apartments, suites, and townhouses to students living on campus. Apartments, suites, and townhouses may have combinations of students of any genders.

The first-floor left wing in Prince George Hall is reserved as an Open Housing Wing. Students can pick any roommate regardless of gender on that hall or they can be assigned a roommate of any gender. RA’s have special training on LGBTQ and trans*/trans gender issues.

Bathrooms

Although SMCM is still working on making bathrooms more accessible to people of all genders, we have gender neutral restrooms spread across campus.
