Office Associate I – Admissions
St. Mary’s College of Maryland, The National Public Honors College, at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting applications for the contingent, part-time position of Office Associate I. This position provides excellent customer service to all visitors, faculty, staff, and students including greeting and checking in guests. Provides basic information to prospective students and their families regarding admission programs; ensures reception area is presentable and well stocked for visitors; monitors the admissions email inbox and responds or routes inquiries to the appropriate party; prepares mailing and ensures that they are complete and accurate on a regular and timely basis; provides support for the outgoing communication flow and recruitment events; communicates with other staff, faculty, administrators, and the general public in person, by telephone or through written correspondence; opens, sorts, and routes mail; receives, screens, places, and directs both incoming and outgoing telephone calls; maintains appointment calendar and makes travel arrangements as necessary; and performs a variety of other routine duties.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalency with successful completion of courses in typing/word processing (minimum speed of 40 correct wpm), data entry, Dbase, spreadsheets, and microcomputer systems. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Good organizational skills. Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, good grammar and arithmetic, and of standard record maintenance procedures. Working knowledge of various computer software packages, i.e., word processing spreadsheet applications, and data base management. At least 3 years of full-time employment in the secretarial/administration field. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
