HVAC Mechanic
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of HVAC Mechanic. This is an advanced position related to the mechanical trades of heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. Employee must train and work with a limited amount of asbestos on an as needed basis; will be required to be “on call” for emergencies on weekends, evenings and holidays; and must be dependable and punctual.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; may have to pass an HVAC written basic skills assessment test; six years’ experience in the field of mechanical trades, four of which must be directly associated with either plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration; must possess a valid driver’s license, preferably Maryland; must possess a Universal CFC certification and Maryland Asbestos certification or ability to obtain the certifications within six months of employment. Must have ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and use ladders to work at heights up to approximately 35 feet. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
