Our Place, Our Pride
There is tremendous loyalty and love for the College: a place that nurtures intellectual ambition and leadership; a place that provides rigorous, relevant and experiential education; a place for everyone with the potential and drive to do the work. Here we value freedom, inclusiveness and diversity - the St. Mary’s Way. The generosity - the outpouring of support we receive - is a tribute to the College and the students we serve.

Leading the way – thank you Trustee Chair Birney and Trustee Seale!
- Trustee Chair Lex Birney’s recent gift of $100,000 will be partially used to refurbish the College’s 25’ Seahawk, a boat that has provided a platform for experiential learning. The transformation to a research vessel will continue to assist the biology and environmental studies programs and will play a vital role in the new marine science degree once a curriculum is approved.
- Trustee Bill Seale’s recent gift of $105,000 is now combined with his earlier gift of $400,000 to completely install an NCAA approved, rubberized running surface on the track at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium. The track makes it possible to launch the new varsity men’s and women’s track and field program approved February 2020. The tentative start for track events is Fall 2021 with field events to begin the following year.
Coming Fall 2022!
- In 2016, we completed our successful campaign to raise $2.5 million in private gifts to help secure $75 million from the state of Maryland for a project that encompassed a new academic building - including an auditorium - and an athletic stadium complex.
- A second building will house the Educational Studies Department and Masters of Arts in Teaching program and feature a 24-hour study commons with a cafe.
- A 700-seat acoustically tuned auditorium will serve both the campus and Southern Maryland communities.
- In addition to the auditorium, the main building will feature a 125-seat recital hall, classrooms, studios, and offices for the Music Department.
- The project remains on schedule to be open for the fall 2022 semester.
