Postponed until June 9-12, 2022
After consultations with the Alumni Council Executive Committee, the College’s leadership team, and colleagues at other schools, we decided to postpone this year’s Alumni Weekend until next summer. With 1,500 expected attendees traveling from nearly 40 states and many international countries, it would be extremely challenging to safely offer the experience you have come to enjoy over the years. With that, we invite all alumni, especially those who would have celebrated a milestone anniversary in 2020 or 2021, to celebrate with us next year for what we anticipate will be the largest Alumni Weekend in school history.
This summer, we hope you’ll revisit last year’s virtual programming, which includes recordings of the River Concert Series and alumni-led classes on cooking, gardening, painting, cocktail-making, and more! In addition, we will have a few in-person concerts just recently announced – The Mulberry Music Festival featuring the blues on June 18, and River Concerts each Friday from June 25 – July 16. These will also be streamed virtually. Check out www.smcm.edu for more information.
Finally, we encourage you to reach out to your former classmates and friends to start preparing for your return to the river this fall for Hawktoberfest (September 24-25, 2021) and next summer for Alumni Weekend (June 9-12, 2022).
SMCM has taken a number of steps to keep our community safe, including online learning for students through the end of the semester and updated teleworking policies for faculty and staff. We urge you to follow the College’s communiques regarding COVID-19 to students, families, and the internal campus community at smcm.edu/covid-19.
