Professor Uzi Baram (New College of Florida) is pictured with SMCM alumnus and director of collections management at Historic St. Mary’s City, Silas Hurry, at the St. John’s museum site on the SMCM campus. Professor Baram, an archaeologist whose expertise includes Ottoman archaeology and historical archaeology in Florida, visited St. Mary’s College and gave a public lecture on Monday, March 21, titled, “Piecing the Sherds Together: Archaeology in the Pursuit of Heritage and Social Justice,” in which he discussed the role of archaeology in giving greater voice to multiple perspectives on history and heritage.
